Women of Westburne
The Women of Westburne (WOW), is a company-wide initiative aimed at fostering a more women-friendly workplace through collaborative and concrete policies and initiatives to encourage, acquire, retain, and promote female staff within our company and the industry at large. As a corporate leader in the industrial sector, Westburne can and should be taking the lead to establish and adopt best practices to help women succeed within our company and the sector. In doing so, we not only will attract and attain female staff, but the best talent in general – organizations that are cognizant of the needs of women are also attuned to the diverse makeup of their staff across the board.
WOW aims to begin taking the steps towards real change, opening the door to collaborative discussion about what actions Westburne can take that will help create concrete progress in this area. We know there are key areas where that transformative change can be made, including actively recruiting and promoting women, providing female staff with ongoing professional development opportunities and mentorship, zero-tolerance anti-harassment policies, and supporting mothers and new parents by prioritizing parental leave. Gender bias doesn’t just affect women, but impacts men as well – as such, we are seeking input from all our employees in undertaking this project.

Looking into our employee charter to see what improvements can be made
How to make our facilities a better place to work in (for everyone!)
Participating in volunteer events centred around women (shelters, mentoring programs, etc)
